St. George/New Harmony

So this past weekend I went to St. George with my friend Bryan and a bunch of other friends. We stayed in a cabin in New Harmony and hung out and just had lots of fun. We went and hiked all over Snow Canyon, had Blue Bunny ice cream, ate at Jack in the Box, blew off Sobe bombs, watched Pan's Labryinth & The Ring 2 and played the Wii. I had a blast and it was a much needed break from school. At Snow Canyon we climbed down into a lava cave which was super fun especially since it was cool inside them and it was pretty hot outside.

Nice big spider we saw...sweet huh!

Down in the lava cave

Bryan and I

So we climbed up on top of this mountain thing..it was pretty sweet!

My camera just doesn't do this place justice.
These were everywhere, Bryan tried to eat one..haha!

The boys.
All of us. This was the best!
Bryan climbed up into this little cave thing. Then we proceeded to play football.

Definitely the best trip yet!!!!

SOBE Bomb!!! This was the best one!

Tanner was here

So this was like 2 weeks ago, but Tanner came down for the football game against New Mexico. It was pretty fun..we went and bought him a coat since he did not have one as well as a new beanie. We went out to ice cream and just hung out. It was good to see him.

Prop 8

So I did not write this but a good friend did and I thought that it was well said and just what I have been thinking.

I just wanted to take a minute to talk to you all about something very important that is coming up on Nov. 4 this year. I am sure that you have all heard about Proposition 8. I would like to ask each and every one of you to join with me in voting Yes on this Proposition.

Some of you may feel hesitant about this, but I would like you to consider a few things. If the proposition passes, the only thing that will happen is that homosexual couples will not be able to be married. However, they will still have the rights which exist now. In CA, homosexual couples are able to register as domestic partners and are given the same rights, protections, and benefits as married couples. If however, Proposition 8 fails, we can expect many changes to take place which would have an adverse affect on our future. Public schools will be required to teach about same-gender marriage as well as traditional marriage starting as young as kindergarten and first grade. They will also be required to teach about same-gender relations in the sex education classes as well.

We really need to consider each side carefully before a decision is made. If you think about it in terms of our beliefs, it is easy to see where a major issue may arise. I firmly believe in our definition of marriage as being divinely appointed between one man and one woman that will allow us to become more like our Heavenly Father as we progress toward our goal of eternal salvation. I feel that it is so important that we stand up for what we know to be right and true as we are faced with this particular issue.

I hope that you all know that I am not saying any of this as an attack on individual with same-sex tendencies. I have many friends who struggle with that exact thing, many of them are members of the church. I still feel that they are wonderful people and I love them dearly. However, I still do not want to make it legal for two men or two women to be joined in marriage.

I strongly encourage all of you to register to vote now if you have not already done so and to vote with me as we work to get this proposition passed. Please also talk to all of your friends about it as well. The more people that join with us, the better chance we will have.

Fall

Well Fall is officially here. Yeah I know I am a little late, but I've been busy. Fall is so much fun at least until it gets too cold. Today was pretty cold I think it only got up to like 48. Needless to say I froze!!!! It is so fun to see all the leaves changing colors and how beautiful they are. Last Friday I went on a bike ride with Lakeridge Junior High for a class and we rode up to Bridal Veil Falls (23 miles). It was beautiful up there. I have a few pictures that turned out semi good considering that I only had my cell phone to take pictures with. It was so much fun and I hope that I can do it again sometime soon before it gets too unbearable cold. On another note, the BYU homecoming game is tomorrow against New Mexico. It should be a super fun game besides the fact that it is supposed to snow. Tanner is coming down as well to watch the game. I'm super excited to see him since I have not seen him for a while. We are going to go and eat blue pancakes tomorrow. More to come on that though when I can say how everything went. Other than that classes are going well except for that it's midterms/papers/stress time. I think it would be marvelous if they could plan it so that everything is not all at once for every class!! Oh well that will probably never happen, but I dare to dream. Well that's about it. More to come on how the weekend goes, as for now here are the pictures from the bike ride.
