It's HERE!!!

Well as lots of you may already have heard I opened my mission call Tuesday night. Lots of family and friends there. I will be serving for 18 months in the Utah Provo Mission, in addition I will also be serving in the St. George Temple Visitors Center. I am beyond excited and could not be more happy. I admit it was a little hard at first to see that I was going to be staying in Utah, but I know that this is where I am supposed to be going. I enter the MTC January 21st. So soon, but that means I'll just have to get things done faster!!!! So if any of you were wondering the Provo mission covers all over Utah, not just Provo. Here is a map of where it covers. The yellow is where it covers. Sorry it is hard to see, but this is the best that I could find on the internet.

5K & Last Home Football Game

So, this happened a while ago but two Saturdays ago my roomate Ashley and I ran a 5K in Saratoga Springs. We decided to do this like a week before the race; meaning we only had a week to get in shape for a 5K which neither of us had ever done before. Needless to say everything went well and we survived just fine. We both decided that we could have done better and want to do another one soon hopefully. We got t-shirts as well as a Spiderman medal. Lucky us!!!After the 5K we decided to go to the last home game. I had been to all of the other games since I have an All-Sports pass, but Ashley had not gone to one yet this season and she had a ticket that she got for a friend. Needless to say it was a great game even though both of us were super tired from the race that morning. I'm going to miss football games for the next 1 1/2 years, but it will be well worth it. Can't wait to watch the game this week! Go Cougs!!!!!

Picture Surfing

So I was looking at some pictures on my computer the other day and I found some fun ones from Aspen Grove this summer that I never posted. They are a bunch of random ones. Sarah and I hiking, pieces I painted, and last day of work. ENJOY!Ok so this is the alligator I painted as a sample. I worked forever on this guy. I actually painted him once at the beginning of the summer, but painted him again at the end when I knew how to paint better. This was by far the best one I painted!I think this is from our last day of work. Actually I know it is. Shalon had already left the week earlier :(This is from a theatre that they have up there it was pretty cool lots of secret spots to climb down in and explore. Unfortunately Sarah and I were too tired and hungry to explore too much.Sarah and I woke up super early one morning to hike up to 1st and 2nd falls before work. Don't mind the no make up and super tired faces :)The troll I glazed for a sample.

St. George/New Harmony

So this past weekend I went to St. George with my friend Bryan and a bunch of other friends. We stayed in a cabin in New Harmony and hung out and just had lots of fun. We went and hiked all over Snow Canyon, had Blue Bunny ice cream, ate at Jack in the Box, blew off Sobe bombs, watched Pan's Labryinth & The Ring 2 and played the Wii. I had a blast and it was a much needed break from school. At Snow Canyon we climbed down into a lava cave which was super fun especially since it was cool inside them and it was pretty hot outside.

Nice big spider we saw...sweet huh!

Down in the lava cave

Bryan and I

So we climbed up on top of this mountain thing..it was pretty sweet!

My camera just doesn't do this place justice.
These were everywhere, Bryan tried to eat one..haha!

The boys.
All of us. This was the best!
Bryan climbed up into this little cave thing. Then we proceeded to play football.

Bryan and I
Definitely the best trip yet!!!!

SOBE Bomb!!! This was the best one!

Tanner was here

So this was like 2 weeks ago, but Tanner came down for the football game against New Mexico. It was pretty fun..we went and bought him a coat since he did not have one as well as a new beanie. We went out to ice cream and just hung out. It was good to see him.

Prop 8

So I did not write this but a good friend did and I thought that it was well said and just what I have been thinking.

I just wanted to take a minute to talk to you all about something very important that is coming up on Nov. 4 this year. I am sure that you have all heard about Proposition 8. I would like to ask each and every one of you to join with me in voting Yes on this Proposition.

Some of you may feel hesitant about this, but I would like you to consider a few things. If the proposition passes, the only thing that will happen is that homosexual couples will not be able to be married. However, they will still have the rights which exist now. In CA, homosexual couples are able to register as domestic partners and are given the same rights, protections, and benefits as married couples. If however, Proposition 8 fails, we can expect many changes to take place which would have an adverse affect on our future. Public schools will be required to teach about same-gender marriage as well as traditional marriage starting as young as kindergarten and first grade. They will also be required to teach about same-gender relations in the sex education classes as well.

We really need to consider each side carefully before a decision is made. If you think about it in terms of our beliefs, it is easy to see where a major issue may arise. I firmly believe in our definition of marriage as being divinely appointed between one man and one woman that will allow us to become more like our Heavenly Father as we progress toward our goal of eternal salvation. I feel that it is so important that we stand up for what we know to be right and true as we are faced with this particular issue.

I hope that you all know that I am not saying any of this as an attack on individual with same-sex tendencies. I have many friends who struggle with that exact thing, many of them are members of the church. I still feel that they are wonderful people and I love them dearly. However, I still do not want to make it legal for two men or two women to be joined in marriage.

I strongly encourage all of you to register to vote now if you have not already done so and to vote with me as we work to get this proposition passed. Please also talk to all of your friends about it as well. The more people that join with us, the better chance we will have.

Fall

Well Fall is officially here. Yeah I know I am a little late, but I've been busy. Fall is so much fun at least until it gets too cold. Today was pretty cold I think it only got up to like 48. Needless to say I froze!!!! It is so fun to see all the leaves changing colors and how beautiful they are. Last Friday I went on a bike ride with Lakeridge Junior High for a class and we rode up to Bridal Veil Falls (23 miles). It was beautiful up there. I have a few pictures that turned out semi good considering that I only had my cell phone to take pictures with. It was so much fun and I hope that I can do it again sometime soon before it gets too unbearable cold. On another note, the BYU homecoming game is tomorrow against New Mexico. It should be a super fun game besides the fact that it is supposed to snow. Tanner is coming down as well to watch the game. I'm super excited to see him since I have not seen him for a while. We are going to go and eat blue pancakes tomorrow. More to come on that though when I can say how everything went. Other than that classes are going well except for that it's midterms/papers/stress time. I think it would be marvelous if they could plan it so that everything is not all at once for every class!! Oh well that will probably never happen, but I dare to dream. Well that's about it. More to come on how the weekend goes, as for now here are the pictures from the bike ride.

MAWIAGE!!!!

IT'S OFFICIAL SKYLER AND SHALON ARE GETTING MARRIED!!!!

We kind of knew it was coming, but did not know exactly when, so when Shalon texted me tonight and told me I was so excited!!! They are the greatest, and pretty much I knew from the beginning that it was going to happen. I am so excited for them. Pretty much Shalon has become one of my best friends after working with her for the whole summer up at Aspen Grove.

Oh man I just can't stop thinking about it as Tae and I sit here waiting for her to come home so that we can congratulate her as soon as she walks in the door! It will probably be one of the longest waits of our lives, but when she comes home it will be the greatest. I am even more happy that they are getting married before I go on my mission so that I will be there to congratulate them! I am so happy that I have Shalon as a friend, and Skyler too they are the greatest!!!!

Yay Shalony!!! I love you! You and Skyler are the greatest!!!!!!!!

In other news I still have not started my papers, but hopefully will get my records back in my ward here from wherever they were in cyberspace over the summer. Hopefully next Sunday will be the magical day!! Also I am loving my classes. Archaeology and my class where I am learning to coach and teach PE are definitely at the top of my list as favorites. My other classes are going good as well.

The Creamery is doing good and I continue to work there as a grocery supervisor. I am finding that it has been a little more tolerable considering that the assistant full time manager told me that I am doing a great job and that she loves to see my smiling face every MWF morning. She is the greatest, I have always enjoyed working with her! Also there are lots of new people to get to know.

Our ward is great and there are some many cool and new people. It is going to be fun to get to know them. Pretty much our whole ward is completely new, which is super exciting. So pretty much my life is great and I am loving it!!!!!

cue...I hope they call me on a mission!!!!!!!

Alright so school has once again started. What fun it has been. Kinda stressful, but don't worry I'm surviving..just barely! Anyways, the real reason that I am posting today is to tell those of you who do not know already that I am starting my papers to go on a mission!!!! Yes that is right you heard correctly...I am going to go on a mission. After a lot of thinking and praying about it I decided that this is the right thing to do and I am beyond excited. I could not be more happy right now. I cannot wait for the semester to be over as I plan to hopefully leave around the first of January next year! I know I know, school has just barely started, and it is definitely going to be hard knowing what awaits me at the end of the semester. So yeah that is my big news and once again I am so happy!!!! I'll keep everyone updated on how is everything is coming!!

Top 10 ways to be an annoying guest at Aspen Grove!

10. Use paper towels underneath every project and get a new one everyday.

9. Ask what time we close when we just announced it 2 seconds before.

8. Make a huge mess on the pottery bridge right after we cleaned it.

7. Asking for an adult brush when you are not an adult.

6. Talking to us like we are stupid when we have worked here all summer and know what we are doing.

5. Cutting in front of all the other guests who have been waiting forever already.

4. Trying to convince us to let you in early, when we have things we need to do to get it ready to open first.

3. Asking why they have to do something when they asked for our help.

2. Complaining about your project not turning out how you liked it when we warned you that because you did this and that it might not turn out very good. Your fault not ours.

1. Being a Huish, and just being downright rude.

FUN FUN FUN!!!

The past couple weeks family has been here in Utah visiting family and also having a family reunion with my dad's side of the family. It was super fun to be with them and to hang out. I was sad to see them go though. Hopefully I will be able to go to California for Aaron's birthday at the beginning of September. Anyways while they were here we went and saw the two new temples here in Utah. Here are a few temples. The first one in Draper had amazing houses around it, it was pretty cool. They are both up on hills that kind of overlook the valley. Enjoy!!!Draper Temple

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Not a new temple, but took it this last weekend with my family.

Thoughts

So I have been reading the book Saints at War by Robert C. Freeman & Dennis A. Wright. It is by far the most intriguing book that I have read in a very long time. I was talking to my Dad about it last night and how much I enjoy learning about wars: what happened during them, how they started and pretty much just everything about them. Yeah I know war is not a good thing, but I find it very intriguing to learn all about it. The more I can learn about it the better. In this book it talks mostly about World War II, but it talks about the first world war as well. I actually find it scary thinking about things like the draft, which it talks about and how one family lost four sons in the course of like a month. I distinctly remember reading about it and then immediately thought about how my younger brother Tanner had to fill out a paper if there ever were a draft. My mom was explaining it to me and how it probably would never happen, but just thinking that it could and the war that is going on in Iraq scares me to death. I don't know what would ever happen if there was a draft and Tanner was drafted. This has definitely made me think more about how important families are and how important it is to be close to them. Most importantly though I think of how grateful I am to have a family and be able to talk to them and be close to them. Okay, so enough of that, but just realized this and needed to write it somewhere. Love you all!!!

WOW!!!

So pretty much its been a long time since posting. A lot has happened in like these last 3 weeks. The past three weekends I have gone down to my uncle and aunt's house in Lehi. It has been so much fun. Aspen Grove is better than ever, but I have to say the food is getting old as we have the same thing each week. Not much variety. Needless to say when I go down to Provo or Lehi on the weekends it is nice to have something different to eat. These past 3 weekends I have gone to a rodeo, watched 2 parades, gone swimming tons, played with cousins, watched coach pitch and t-ball games, watched fireworks, went shopping and just relaxed and has a blast. I can't wait because my family is coming up in about 2 weeks for our family reunion. I am overly excited and probably talk about it with my friends about everyday. They are probably getting annoyed of it quick. Tomorrow is church and I have to be in nursery since that is my calling as the nursery leader. I have to say that it is fun, but it is probably the biggest nursery that I have seen even though we have different groups of kids every Sunday. It actually presents quite a bit of a problem because none of the kids know eachother and they are in a very unfamiliar setting. So far it has not been too terribly difficult. I am definitely learning patience!!!!! Ok enough of my rambling, here are a few select and fun pictures from the past 3 weekends....ENJOY!!! Love and miss you all!!

First base

Look at that concentration!!! She's pro already

Tongue out just like me..hahahaha!

It was her turn to bat and she was posing for the camera. What a girl!!! Love her!

Parker at bat. He was pretty dang good.

At the parade with the sweet shoe float.

RODEO!! Aimee, Me & Tae

So this was about halfway through the rodeo they had these motorcycle guys come and jump the ramps. It was pretty sweet needless to say. The blur in the sky is the motorcyclist.

Parker's favorite ones. They smelled so bad, but he loved them. He would have been content with just doing those ones all night.

Swinging!!! Aimee's favorite

Watching fireworks..it was super windy.
